CTUG 2023 was a resounding success! We were delighted to see a stronger attendance than last year, and that society is slowly but surely returning “back to normal” after the pandemic. The show was held at the HPE office in Toronto, which provided easy access for the local customers and vendors right outside the Toronto airport, and also sophisticated coffee machines for mid-day energy boosts.
To start the show and the Vendor Day, Henry Fonseca, President of the CTUG Board, provided a Welcome and Introduction. Afterwards, David Jones, HPE Master Engineer, delivered the Keynote. He did an excellent job, including well-timed jokes and good commentary, clearly explaining key HPE initiatives in the HPE NonStop industry.
Later in the day, Khody Khodyari, CEO of Idelji, presented on the best practices regarding monitoring, rapid problem detection and resolution (including how AI can expedite this process), AI developments in general, and showed a short video that was generated by Idelji’s AI model.
Kevin Gibson, Sales Associate at XYPRO, presented on the company’s suite of security solutions. The frequency, rate, and cost of malware and ransomware attacks was harrowing. Kevin focused on the “moat” concept, which includes protecting digital assets from the outside in, then from the inside out, with new tools to detect insider attacks, bugs, issues, etc.
The Gravic team presented HPE Shadowbase – Digital Resilience, Data Integration, and Data Validation for HPE NonStop Systems. Paden Holenstein, Business Development Specialist and Marketing Coordinator, discussed a brief overview of Gravic and what key industry trends and challenges face customers. Ken Scudder, Vice President of Global Business Development, discussed how HPE Shadowbase solutions are being used in the industry to solve these challenges. To wrap things up, Paul Holenstein, Executive Vice President, discussed industry developments and challenges in defending against Ransomware and Malware and how HPE Shadowbase solutions are architected to handle these issues.
At the end of the day, the CTUG board hosted a prize drawing for customers, followed by a closing reception that included wide variety of tasty Canadian appetizers and food that enabled candid discussions and networking.
During the Education Day, Keith Moore, HPE Master Architect, presented on Ransomware and Malware, Tokenization, and Middleware. During the Vendor Day, we also presented on the developing Validation Architecture, and there was enough interest and time during the Education Day for us to answer some of the attendees’ follow-on questions.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Henry Fonseca and Enclaid Pinto of the CTUG Board for organizing and hosting this rewarding event!
Congratulations to Biman Bhakat from TD Bank for winning our JBL Flip 4 prize!
