We are pleased to announce that the HP NonStop Shadowbase product suite now supports the new HP Integrity NonStop X family of systems. The NonStop X systems are supported by the following releases:

  • HP Shadowbase NonStop Release for Guardian, Version 6.200. This release is included in the HP NonStop SPR T1122^AAB and provides support for:
  • Replication from Enscribe files, SQL/MP tables, and SQL/MX tables, and
  • Replication to Enscribe files and SQL/MP tables.
  • HP Shadowbase NonStop Release for OSS, Version 6.200. This release is included in the HP NonStop SPR T1123^AAB and provides support for replication to SQL/MX tables.
  • HP Shadowbase Compare, Version 6.200. This release is included in the HP NonStop SPR T1122^AAB.
  • HP Shadowbase Audit Reader, Version 6.200. This release is included in the HP NonStop SPR T1122^AAB.

Note that Shadowbase Version 6.200 has been released for the NonStop X systems only. The latest version for the S-Series, H-Series, and J-Series remains Version 6.101 for all of the above products.  We anticipate that the next release, version 6.210, will be released across all supported NonStop platforms (see below).

With the pending termination of support for the S-Series by HP in 2015, we are announcing that Shadowbase Version 6.101 is the last release that will support S-Series systems. We will continue to make critical fixes to Version 6.101 for the S-Series on an as needed case-by-case basis for our customers, but we will not be enhancing the S-Series Shadowbase software beyond Version 6.101.

For HP Shadowbase Other Servers, Version 6.100 remains our shipping release. Version 6.101 is scheduled for release in April. In addition to several critical bug fixes, Version 6.101 includes:

  • Enhancements to our Oracle Log Source collection and extension of the collection to Oracle RAC based systems.
  • Usability enhancements, including:
    • Better protection when editing OPEN objects.
    • Removal of the obsolete COLL commands.
    • DBS Mapping support for single quote (‘) and double quote (“) characters.
    • Changes to the column names of the SHAD_REJECT and SHAD_LOG tables to remove conflicts with SQL reserved words in some databases, extending the support of the tables to additional databases.

For HP NonStop Shadowbase products, the next release will be Version 6.210. This release will include:

  • Support for long rows in SQL/MX tables.
  • Support for long rows in Enscribe Key-Sequenced files.
  • Support for long keys (greater than 256 bytes) in Enscribe Key-Sequenced files.
  • Support EXACT SYSKEY replication for SQL/MP and SQL/MX tables:
    • For SQL/MX tables, this support includes tables that use SYSKEYs as primary keys and tables that use SYSKEYs as clustering keys within a primary key.
    • For SQL/MP tables, this support includes tables that use SYSKEYs as primary keys and tables that use SYSKEYs as clustering keys within a primary key, however ONLY WHEN USING THE SQL/MX EXECUTOR AND SQL/MP ALIAS’s. For SQL/MP tables that are not managed via the SQL/MX executor/alias’s, Shadowbase software cannot assign the target SYSKEY value to match the source’s. If this feature is important in your environment, contact Shadowbase Support for further information.

Beta testing of our first synchronous replication product, Shadowbase ZDL, for HP NonStop environments continued through the fall and winter, primarily focused on performance. This beta release is a major milestone towards avoiding any data loss even in the event of catastrophic data center failure, and is a stepping stone to subsequently providing collision avoidance in active/active architectures via the follow-on Shadowbase ZDL Plus SR product. Please note that Shadowbase synchronous transaction support is currently in beta and not an available FCS at this time. We are actively seeking additional beta sites, and would like to speak with those customers willing to beta test Shadowbase ZDL. Contact Shadowbase Product Management for more information.

As always, please keep us abreast of your future technology direction, needs, and wants in the data replication, data integration, and data synchronization space so we can plan to meet them accordingly.
