Hello and welcome to our Winter 2013 Shadowbase Products Group Newsletter.

We welcome the start of a new year as it is a busy time as customer deployments and prospect’s interest have definitely started ramping up. Clearly, the economy is on the rebound, and budget cycles have started to thaw. It is exciting to see some market optimism again! As you may have noticed in our recent press release, we are honored to receive another industry award from HP and Intel for some of our pioneering active/active and continuous availability work. All of the hard work and team dedication bears such powerful dividends for our customers, and this case study provides an excellent example showing that even though you think you are protected with an active/passive disaster recovery architecture, there is nothing quite like a continuously available architecture to actually know you are. Please let us know if you are interested in a presentation of the case study as it provides an informative lesson and sequence of steps for continuing to improve beyond a disaster recovery-based architecture into a disaster tolerant-based architecture.

Recently, it was a busy period around our world, especially in our research and development labs. We have a nice slate of new features available now and some exciting extensions that are coming; please check out the details in our Development report by clicking here.

Our Gravic Labs intellectual property group was very busy as well, with some recent successes in patent awards and additional application filings. These efforts have a tendency to precede some of our best product innovations. Check out more by clicking here.

An exciting area where we are leading the curve is in the development of synchronous transactional replication technology. Working with HP, we have engineered some enhancements in TMF and in Shadowbase to leverage the powerful NonStop environment to start to bring this exciting technology to market. Synchronous replication promises zero data loss at failure and full active/active processing while automatically avoiding collisions – these are important advances for our customers. We will have more to share in an upcoming correspondence.

One area that is always important to us is how our existing customers are doing and if there are specific areas where we can improve our performance as a supplier to you and your organization. Along these lines, we recently sent out our annual customer survey, and will report on the results in an upcoming correspondence. If you did not receive it and would like to comment, please click here.

Additionally, we plan to continue to reach out to our existing customers to discuss and review their current and future upgrade plans, and to offer a no cost/no obligation Shadowbase “best practices” review. We find that many companies initially deploy very sophisticated architectures, but then aren’t aware of additional capabilities that have been added over time. This helps us both so that we make sure we stay ahead of your needs, and helps make sure that you are staying up on the latest technology, feature set, and gaining full advantage of the capabilities your Shadowbase technology already affords you. Contact [email protected] for more information if you would like to schedule a best practices review.

We are pleased to have Keith B. Evans on board at Gravic! He was a long-time Tandem, Compaq, and HP NonStop employee, most recently the TMF and RDF product manager, and now he works on Shadowbase Business Development and our Synchronous Replication initiatives. For more information on Keith’s background, please click here.
